Since early 2008 we have pioneered a range of performance upgrades for the latest Nissan GTR.  These upgrade packages have received critical acclaim not because we chase higher numbers, but because we believe in pushing for a better, more rewarding driving experience.

In 2014 we opened our custom built Dyno and workshop so we can continue to develop and refine our upgrades in-house.

We offer a number of different Stages with each designed to progress the performance of the GTR.  Below we have outlined the changes required for each stage.  However, Litchfield like to offer a bespoke service and each Stage can be tailored to your personal requirements.  Please feel free to contact us with any questions that you have.

Our Stage 1 upgrade brings out the full benefit of the Y-pipe and incorporates a recalibration of the GTRs engine management system. This recalibration will release an extra 60-70bhp and transform the way the GTR performs without pushing the limits of Nissans original engine parameters.

The Stage 1 Power upgrade includes:

  • Milltek Y-Pipe
  • Improved boost control with custom Ecutek code
  • Adjustable boost using the steering wheels Cruise Control button
  • Revised ignition control, Variable Valve timing and Fuel maps
  • Reduced fuel consumption (especially on partial throttle conditions)
  • Increase in both power and torque across the whole rev range
  • Litchfield RACEROM Switchable maps for enhanced Economy mode and full Race mode
  • Litchfield Custom Launch Control settings when used with Gearbox Software upgrade

Our Stage 2 upgrade features the Y-pipe and the rest of Milltek's performance exhaust system which replaces the restrictive standard rear silencer. To further improve the engine's breathing the paper intake filters are replaced with free flowing K&N units. These filters not only aid performance but are also washable to ensure consistent performance over time.

Combined with our unique ECU recalibration this upgrade lifts performance to an incredible 590bhp. The Stage 2 upgrade is our most popular upgrade after the initial Y-pipe.

The Stage 2 Power upgrade includes:

  • Replacement Performance Air filters
  • Milltek Y-Pipe Milltek rear exhaust system
  • Exhaust back pressure reduced by over 37%
  • Improved boost control with custom Ecutek code
  • Revised ignition control, Variable Valve timing and Fuel maps
  • Reduced fuel consumption (especially on partial throttle conditions)

Our Stage 3 upgrade uses our larger Performance Intake kit. This kit features our large capacity cone filters (as used by the latest British Touring Cars) which receive cold air from behind the front bumper. Smooth Mandel bent pipe work ensures great air flow around the whole of the filter to allow the engine to breathe as freely as possible.

The Stage 3 Power upgrade includes:

At power levels over 600bhp the standard fuel injectors will be at 100% duty so the stage 4 kit features our larger 1,100cc injectors to ensure the engine receives the correct amount of fuel. These Bosch Motorsport based injectors have a superb spray pattern so fuel consumption and driveability are as good, if not better, than the standard OEM 570cc injectors.

Stage 4.5 is designed to cater for the customer looking for the next step without all the associated costs. Our Stage 4.5 package takes power to 700bhp with a carefully selected turbo combination and high flow fuel pumps in addition to the normal Stage 4 upgrades.

Why go for a Billet Compressor Wheel?

  • Approximately 30-40% lighter than the cast original Compressor wheel
  • Weight reduction gives a significant improvement to transient throttle response
  • Faster Turbo spool up for less turbo lag
  • Advanced CNC accuracy for improved aerodynamics
  • Larger blade length due to reduced CNC hub size
  • Extended Tip design for increased airflow
  • Machined from solid Billet for additional strength

Combining these upgrades allows the engine to develop a comfortable extra 80bhp over Stage 4 whilst still retaining fantastic response and driveability. The high flow fuel pumps deliver more than enough capacity whilst remaining silent and keeping fuel temperature down.

Power now extends all the way to the redline offering a much larger power band.

Whilst the engine is removed to fit the new turbos we would recommend also fitting an LM front limited slip differential (£1426.12 inc vat fitted), saving a huge 8 hours labour over fitment with the engine in situ. Please read more about the differential here.

Stage 5 is where things really take off! This stage includes our Garrett ball bearing cores. These have produced incredible results with a significant improvement in both response and power.

We have been using these cores in all our Subaru Turbo conversions for many years and first used the Garrett cores on our Evo Tuned Car Of The Year build back in 2010. These are available in a number of different variations which we can discuss with each customer to make sure we get the ideal match.

Along with the larger turbos we recommend switching to an improved intercooler design from Forge Motorsport. Testing has shown that higher power levels the standard intercoolers can become overwhelmed. After considerable trials, we found that the most efficient design for the GTR was a core of tube and fin design, and along with an overall increase in dimensions we have been able to improve the cooling ability and reduce the pressure loss across when compared to stock intercoolers.

The Stage 5 Power upgrade includes:

  • Forge front mounted intercooler with hard piping kit
  • Litchfield Turbo intake pipes
  • Litchfield 1,100cc Bosch Injectors
  • Twin fuel pumps

  • Improved boost control with custom Ecutek code

  • Litchfield RACEROM Switchable maps for enhanced Economy mode and full Race mode
