Litchfield is now proud to offer the excellent LM Quaife Front Differential for the Nissan R35 GT-R.
We’ve been testing this for some time now on both the track and road and have only experienced positive results.
The problem with the standard front differential on the R35 is that it is an open design. This can result in the inside front wheel losing traction as the car squats coming out of corners on power. The car then tries to move the power to the front, which in turn further upsets the balance.
The great benefit of the LM Quaife front differential is that it automatically biases torque, with a constantly varying degree, to the wheel that has traction. This massively reduces inside wheel slip without any negative side effects. For example, they are silent (using gears rather than clutch plates), use standard oil and do not need servicing any more than the standard item. They are also fine to use on the road and do not limit your steering lock or cause inner wheel hop on full lock when parking.
With the LM Quaife differential front traction is hugely increased on power especially when exiting a corner and does so without compromising turn-in or braking stability. This makes the car so much more predictable to drive, increasing the trust the driver has when the car moves its power forward through the 4wd system. That predictability and trust is helped by increased steering feel as you can now feel how the power is being transferred to the tarmac.
We feel that the LM Quaife front differential is a must for a track-biased GTR but also compliments a road car very well. The increased steering feel, front-end grip and stability make a huge difference on any R35 GTR.
