Our Honda Civic Type-R was featured on Channel 5’s Fifth Gear programme. You can see Vicki Butler-Hendson enjoying our Civic around the famous Castle Coombe race circuit.
Litchfield Imports had the first Civic Type-R in the UK and it has given us plenty of time to test and work with the car.
The first Civic Type-R arrived in the country in late June 2007 and we quickly started work. Chassis setup was checked and the car was run on the Dyno to access the engines performance. This caused a surprise as despite only a handful of miles the new K20A engine pushed out an impressive and repeatable 237bhp. This is some 15bhp over the Honda factory claim.
Not only were we the first to import this amazing car but we have also passed the strict Euro4 emissions testing and Model Report creation. Our years of experience with the complicated ESVA testing scheme meant that we are the only company to have passed this Type Approval requirement.
The creation of the model report means that we can now register these exciting new models for UK roads.
Parts supply for these cars will be no problem as over the years we have built up a fantastic relationship with Honda dealer in both Japan and the UK. Most parts are available from Hondas European parts centre and are delivered next day to the dealer. This JDM Civic body shell is already available in the UK officially as the Civic Hybrid and much of the drive train is the same as its UK Type-R cousin.
We imported one of the first Integra Type-R’s into the UK and supplied the successful race version to a number of race teams. In recent years we have imported cars for other dealers (including official) as well as private individuals. We have even supplied Honda Type-Rs to a large Petrol company and to a world famous Italian supercar manufacturer.
Our Civic Type-R has been driven by a number of high profile magazines including Autocar and Evo Magazine. Both magazines really enjoyed the Civic and welcomed the return to more driver focused Honda.
With the new Honda Civic Type-R’s we have tried to provide a purchasing and ownership experience of the very highest standards, offering complete piece of mind and value for money.
Delivery times for a new Civic Type-R are approximate 6-8 Weeks for our Japanese dealer to receive the order factory order and a further 6 weeks to ship the car to the UK and complete registration.
