Japanese Specification Legacy

Using our experience gained from passing the European emissions standards on both the Impreza and Forester STI models we have now completed the emission testing for the Legacy turbo range. As the only company in the UK to have passed these tests we offer unrivalled knowledge of these exciting Japanese models.

Once here each car has its ECU reprogrammed to improve performance and safety on UK fuel and our higher road speeds. We also reprogram the legacy's driver selectable Economy mode to further improve it's fuel consumption.

The Japanese Legacy range makes the ideal family performance car. Like the UK range we can supply the Legacy in both saloon and estate versions.

Subaru have now announced the Subaru Legacy "tuned by STi". This limited production run consists of just 600 units in total and can be ordered in both B4 Saloon Spec B or GT Estate Spec B form.

Subaru Intelligent Drive

Subaru Intelligent Drive (SI-Drive) was introduced on the 2007 European Legacy 3.0 litre Spec B and Outback range and also on the Japanese turbocharged models. This new system allows three different driving experiences in the same car.

The driver has the option to refine performance and fuel economy to suit their preferences.

SI-Drive can optimize fuel efficiency and ride comfort in stop-start city traffic, produce a lively response in flowing Motorway or town traffic, or a rapid sporty drive on open roads.

It features three modes which are clearly displayed on the instrument panel:
Intelligent mode allows gentle, smooth power output with greater economy in congested city driving at low to mid-speed or when combined with a smooth driving style on high speed roads.
Sport mode optimises performance on city and open road drives offering a compromise for day-to-day driving.
Sport # mode this mode further sharpens the engines throttle response allowing the enthusiastic driver to receive maximum acceleration and performance.

SI-Drive regulates the engine and transmission control units, and fine-tunes the electronic throttle control.

The control button is installed on the centre console and is easy to operate. Simply pushing the dial and Intelligent mode is set. Sport mode is activated by turning the dial left and Sport # mode by turning it right. There is also a steering wheel button to quickly activate Sport # mode and modes can be changed while driving.

These Legacy's instrument panel also include a SI-Drive Multi-Function Display (MFD). This communicates vehicle behavior in the different modes. It also includes an Eco gauge and Shift-up indicator (manual-only).

The needle of the Eco gauge stays in the green zone when fuel consumption is low, for the benefit of economy-minded drivers. Higher fuel consumption is indicated by the needle heading into the yellow zone.

The MFD shows comprehensive information about the power characteristics of the chosen mode via a simplified torque curve.

The Shift-up indicator, located in the tachometer on manual transmission models, uses a blinking indicator to advise the driver to change up a gear and save fuel when engine revolutions reach an optimum level.

Subaru's internal testing indicates a vehicle driven in intelligent mode gains a 10 per cent improvement range.
